In July 2009, while in the midst of changing record labels, AKS (AKB48′s management) released Baby! Baby! Baby! as a digital download for NTT Docomo phones only. Making it AKB48′s 3rd indies and their only digital single.
20 members were chosen to participate in Baby! Baby! Baby!. Most notably, it was Ohori Megumi’s only time appearing in a AKB48 single, despite being a founding member of the original Team K. Umeda Ayaka who had not been seen since Aitakatta, also returned for this single.

Baby! Baby! Baby!’s PV was conceptualized and directed by staff from Dentsu Inc. Japan’s leading advertising agency and possibly the largest in the world. Dentsu coincidentally owns the 48-story Dentsu Shiodome that I wrote about in the 10 Free Tokyo City Views. For Baby! Baby! Baby!’s graphically strong video, they drew inspiration from 60s American pop art and fashion. It features lots of interesting cuts and transitions and needless to say, it remains one of my favorites to date.

The pool sides scenes in Baby! Baby! Baby!’s PV were filmed at Hotel East 21 Tokyo.

The 3500 yen Blue DVD contained extra making of scenes, while Green version had theater footage and the single’s commercials for 2500 yen. There was also a DVD Box Set with all 3 discs and bonus photos that cost 10000 yen.
